Le Foyer Des Artistes - Midsummer Nights Dream

A Magical Night

As the twilight lingers over the city on June 6th, St Columb’s Hall will be transformed into a realm of fantasy, romance, and technical brilliance. This isn't just a concert; it is the grand culmination of the 2025/26 season, bringing together international stars and the brightest local talent.

From Fairy Realms to Operatic Intrigue

The evening begins by stepping into the enchanted woods of Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night's Dream. From the famous wedding march to the skittering, "fairy-light" strings of the overture, it’s the perfect soundtrack for a June evening.
The mood then shifts to the wit and drama of Mozart, featuring the Da Ponte Opéra Sextets. These are the "greatest hits" of Mozart’s most famous collaborations, brought to life by the soaring voices of the LEF Young Singers.

Finally, prepare for the power of Beethoven. The Piano Concerto No. 3 is a tour de force—moody, turbulent, and ultimately triumphant. It’s a piece that demands a master at the keys, and we have found just the person.
Local Hero Returns

We are thrilled to welcome back pianist Rowel Friers, the winner of the St Columb’s Hall Concerto Award. Watching a performer of Rowel’s caliber tackle Beethoven in the very hall where he has made such an impact is a "must-see" moment for the local arts community.

A Community of Voices

Music is better when shared, and this concert features a beautiful collaboration between the LEF Young Singers and the DANU Young Women’s Choir. The combined energy of these young performers brings a fresh, vibrant spirit to these classical staples, ensuring the future of music in Derry is louder and brighter than ever.
